About Mel Arnold
Mel Arnold was first elected as Member of Parliament for North Okanagan–Shuswap in October of 2015 and re-elected in October 2019 and September 2021. Most recently, Mel was re-elected as the Member of Parliament for Kamloops–Shuswap–Central Rockies in April 2025.
Mel served as Shadow Minister for Fisheries, Oceans and Canadian Coast Guard for Her Majesty’s Official Opposition from November 2019 through August 2020. Mel also served as Deputy Shadow Minister for Fisheries and the Vice-Chair of the BC–Yukon Conservative Caucus during the 42nd Parliament. Mel has been a member of the Standing Committee for Fisheries and Oceans since January of 2016.
Prior to being elected, Mel was a long-time business owner in Salmon Arm and served as a volunteer with many not-for profit organizations. Evolving from his background in business, fish and wildlife conservation and volunteerism Mel is devoted to the betterment of the Kamloops–Shuswap–Central Rockies.
Mel was raised on a family dairy farm in Notch Hill, B.C. near Shuswap Lake. Mel and Linda, his wife of 42 years, enjoy taking part in the tremendous outdoor recreation opportunities the Kamloops–Shuswap–Central Rockies offers and spending family time with their daughter and son-in-law.
Mel is dedicated to connecting with constituents to understand the various challenges facing constituents and is committed to assisting the people of the Kamloops–Shuswap–Central Rockies in achieving a bright future.
